Successful Rush Management and Feeding/Bedding Demo
October 2, 2014
See photos of our highly successful rush management and feeding & bedding demonstration – held at the farm of Iwan Davies in Hafod y Maidd, Corwen on Thursday 17th September as part of a Farming Connect open day.
Well known machinery dealer Emyr Evans, who has been successfully supplying the Quad-X and Blaney Agri rush control equipment and feeding and bedding machinery, was pleased to showcase the British built machinery at the event. A number of our representatives were also in Wales for the demo.
Dewi Hughes, from Farming Connect opened the workshops by explaining why rush management is so important. Sean Blaney from Blaney Agri / Quad-X explained how best to control rushes and talked through the benefits of shredding and how chemical costs can be reduced by 85%, giving advice on how to best to claim back productive grassland.
Our team were pleased to get the opportunity to speak to locals about the different ground conditions they face and the problems they are up against in controlling rushes. Many attending the demonstrations were initially sceptical that the mowers would be capable of dealing with the rushes. But upon seeing the machines in action for themselves they were very impressed with the results and by how finely they shredded the rushes. A number of contractors and farmers at the demonstration already use our acclaimed double roller weed wipers and were keen to tell the others at the demo event of the fantastic results on weed kill that they have already seen.
The working demonstrations also included a range of feeding and bedding machinery including the ForagerX10 Bale Unroller and the Bale Shredder which can help you feed and bed your livestock from the comfort of the tractor within minutes.
The Forager X10 Bale Unroller and Bale Shredder were demonstrated outdoors, giving the onlookers a good view of their features and capabilities. Spectators commented on the speed of the silage distribution and that either of these two silage feeding machines would be a welcome alternative to the daily chore of manually forking and handling silage.
The advantage of these machines is that by only feeding the required amount of silage needed on a daily basis the silage is fresher and more palatable to livestock, to give improved intake and more liveweight gain per day – making you money. With less selective eating, less silage is wasted – saving you money.
The Blaney Agri Bale Unroller works faster than any diet feeder and you can easily control the amount of silage dispensed with the adjustable output function as standard. The Bale Shredder is equipped with a large diameter rotor for faster bale throughput. The demo showed that the Blaney Agri machine can shred a bale in as little as 2 ½ minutes, making it the fastest round bale shredder available – suitable for feeding and bedding.
