1st of September marks the start of the Hedge-cutting season, which gets underway from 1st September and lasts until 28th February, where hedges in fields and along roadsides can be cut.

Currently, farmers and landowners are prevented from trimming hedges during six months, between 1st March and 1st September to protect nesting birds as part of EU legislation.
